Heise Cynthia D. Heise
Au.D. CCC-A

Dr. Cynthia Heise is a licensed, board certified, Doctor of Audiology. She received her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Florida, with a Masters degree in Audiology from the University of South Florida. While her children were completing high school, Cynthia returned to Nova Southeastern University to complete her Doctorate of Audiology degree. Cynthia is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and the Florida Academy of Audiology, she is Board Certified by the American Speech-Language Pathology and Hearing Association.

Dr. Heise was appointed by the Govenor of Florida to the Board of Audiology and Speech Pathology where she served for 12 years. During her tenure on the Board, Dr. Heise was instrumental in developing our current State licensing laws for consumer protection.  

Dr. Heise has been the owner and operator of the Hearing Center of Broward, a private practice audiology clinic, since 1976. She specializes in adult and pediatric audiology, including complete diagnostic services, vestibular assessment, and electrophysiology. Her primary speciality is in the prescribing and fitting of hearing aids, including counseling and rehabilitation services. Dividing her time among three locations in Broward County, Cynthia always finds quality time to spend with her family which includes her eleven grandchildren.


Heise Layne Heise

Nationally board certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences, with 35 years experience in Hearing Science, Layne specializes in adult and geriatric hearing rehabilitation. Using high-end Hearing Instrument Technology, he focuses on personalizing lifestyle solutions for optimum hearing benefits.


White Kimberly A White
Au.D. CCC-A

Kimberly is a licensed, board certified, Doctor of Audiology with over 20 years of experience. She received her Doctorate in Audiology from A.T. Still University School of Health Sciences Arizona, and her Masters of Science and Bachelors of Science from West Virginia University. While Kim enjoys many facets of audiology, her passion lies with dispensing hearing aids. Before becoming a private practice audiologist, Kim worked for several world leading hearing aid manufacturing companies. She trained audiologists all over the United States as well as provided fitting assistance to their most challenging hearing aid cases.  Kim realizes that each person she sees is unique and deserves individual attention to understand their needs. She strives to provide the best hearing care possible to everyone she meets. Kim is married and she and her husband have one child. In her spare time she enjoys college football and traveling the USA.


Kushch Connie Kushch
M.A., CCC-A

Connie Kushch is a board certified Audiologist. She received her Masters degree in Audiology from the University of Florida. With 23 years of experience in hearing instrument fitting, for adults and children in both private practice as well as public school settings. Presently she specializes in audiometric evaluation, premium hearing aid technology prescription and fitting, counseling, and rehabilitation services.


Hansen Joan Hansen
Office Manager

Joan has been a member of the Hearing Center of Broward staff for over 35 years. She has worked as a patient care coordinator, office manager, and hearing instrument specialist. Joan looks forward to working with new and familiar patients every day.  Joan has been a resident of Lighthouse Point, Florida for her entire life, (if you need any restaurant recommendations, ask her!). Joan and her husband have two daughters and like to enjoy the Florida weather.  


Calcaterra Susan Calcaterra
Patient Care Coordinator

Susan has worked with Allied Hearing Center of Broward for over 13 years. She is available to assist you with scheduling an appointment and answering your questions. Susan will make sure you are greeted with a smile and one of her freshly baked cookies each time you come into our office. Susan comes to us from New York. She and her husband have three children and three grandchildren. Susan brings a special empathy to our patients as both her mother, and husband have hearing loss and wear hearing aids. She truly understands the day to day challenges of the hearing impaired. Giver her a call. She's waiting to hear from you!


Rivera Deborah Rivera
Patient Care Cooridnator

Deborah has been on staff at the Hearing Center of Broward for over 6 years.  She enjoys working with patients to schedule appointments, and troubleshooting the latest hearing aid technology accessories.  Deborah speaks fluent Spanish, and will assist in hearing testing and fitting hearing aids on our Spanish speaking patients. Deborah has 3 daughters and loves to spend her free time couponing.


Opie Kate Opie
Au.D. Extern

Kate has been working with the Hearing Center of Broward since 2009. She worked part-time in the office as an Audiology Assistant while working on her Doctor of Audiology degree at Nova Southeastern University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Michigan State University. Kate enjoys many of the diagnostic aspects of audiology, such as VNG (dizziness evaluations), hearing evaluations, and electrophysiologic assessment. Her passion however, is in fitting hearing aids and counseling. Her goal is to provide the best care, service, and education as posible to the patients at the Hearing Center of Broward. In her spare time, Kate enjoys watching college and professional football, and spending time outside in the Florida weather.
